This page explains the use of cookies and similar technologies on the Stella de’ Tolomei website.
What cookies are
Cookies are small files or pieces of information that a website can store on a user’s device through the browser.
They may be used to enable a website’s technical operation, remember certain preferences or, in other cases, analyse user behaviour or carry out advertising and profiling activities.
Technologies other than cookies can perform similar functions and are subject to the relevant rules when they allow users to be tracked.
Current website configuration
The Stella de’ Tolomei website has been designed to minimise the use of external services and tracking tools.
The current configuration does not intentionally include:
- behavioural advertising systems;
- profiling cookies;
- advertising pixels;
- Google Analytics or external visitor analytics services;
- third-party videos or maps embedded in pages;
- marketing tools requiring the user’s prior consent.
Images, stylesheets, fonts and scripts used by the website’s public interface are served directly by the website.
Aggregate internal statistics
The website uses a proprietary system to count page views and clicks on WhatsApp, telephone and email links. Only the date, page, event type and corresponding total are stored in the database for 730 days. Unique visitors are not counted and clicks do not represent confirmed bookings.
The system does not set cookies, use localStorage or sessionStorage, generate persistent identifiers or perform fingerprinting. It does not record IP addresses, user agents, referral sources, full URLs, search parameters or message content, and it does not send statistics to external analytics services. The browser sends only the page identifier and event type to the website; the normal technical information in an HTTP request remains separate from the aggregate statistics. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control preferences, when communicated by the browser, are respected by suspending counting.
Technical cookies
The website and its WordPress/hosting infrastructure may use cookies or technical tools strictly necessary for correct operation, security and technical management of the service.
The website also uses the technical cookie pll_language, set by Polylang, to remember the language of the last page visited and keep the browsing language consistent on subsequent visits. The cookie contains the selected language code and lasts for one year.
These tools are not used for advertising or to create user profiles.
Prior consent is not required for strictly necessary cookies and tools.
Why no consent banner is shown
The current configuration does not use profiling cookies or other tracking tools for which the user’s prior consent is required.
For this reason, the website does not show an “Accept/Reject cookies” banner.
The absence of a banner does not prevent users from receiving information about how the website works, which is available in this Cookie Policy and the Privacy Policy.
If tools requiring consent are introduced in future, they must remain disabled until the user has made a valid choice and the website will be updated with a consent management system compliant with applicable law.
The WhatsApp buttons on the website are simple external links.
WhatsApp is not loaded within the page during normal browsing.
Only when the user chooses the link is the external service opened, subject to WhatsApp’s terms and privacy notice.
Google Maps
Google Maps is also accessed through a simple external link.
The website does not embed Google maps and does not automatically load Google Maps while pages are viewed.
Google services are contacted when the user chooses to open the relevant link.
Managing cookies in the browser
Users can view, delete or block cookies through their browser settings.
Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent some functions from working correctly.
New services
Before introducing analytics tools, advertising, embedded external content, booking engines, payment systems or other services that may introduce cookies or tracking technologies, Stella de’ Tolomei must assess the related privacy implications.
If such tools require consent, they must not be loaded before the user has made a valid choice.
